10 Commandments of Using Pinterest for Business

10 Commandments of Using Pinterest for BusinessIn general, I don’t like it when people post an infographic on their blog and let it stand as content with no explanation. But I came across this fabulous infographic today and had to share it with you. Not only is it extremely clever, it contains a wealth of information you simply must have if you intend to use Pinterest for business.

The 10 Commandments of Using Pinterest for BusinessThe 10 Commandments of Using Pinterest for Business

1. Plan for thy pinning success
2. Honor thy source
3. Thou shalt pin strategically
4. Thou shalt remember to be social
5. Thou shalt produce pinnable visual content
6. Thou shalt create as well as curate
7. Promote thy business creatively
8. Thou shalt consider referral traffic and seo
9. Take advantage of thy tools
10. Research and measure thy pins

In the interest of honoring commandment #2, “Honor Thy Source,”  I have to say that finding out the original source was quite an undertaking.

I found this article because the infographic was pinned on Pinterest by Peg Corwin from a HubSpot Article entitled, “A Simple Cheat Sheet for using Pinterest for Marketing,” by Pamela Vaughan. But she actually found the infographic over at SociallySorted.com.au in an article entitled simply “Pinterest Infographic.”

But THAT article revealed that the graphic was created in honor of SociallySorted’s Donna Moritz having been asked to be the first guest blogger at Amy Porterfield’s blog. Amy and I were in the inaugural “Mentor With Mari” class back in 2009 when we were first learning social media, and Amy has gone on to be a real mover and shaker in the social media world. So I decided that Donna’s article on Amy’s blog should be the original source.

Confused yet? You won’t be confused about Pinterest after you check out this infographic.

Thanks for your article! I have used pinterest on my website and the result was great, it jumped from #124 to #3 in just 3 weeks time.

The key is we must got our website pinned and repinned by many people, which is the hardest part. Most of pinterest users won’t doing repin when they aren’t like what we pinned.

I do simple thing to outsource it on fiverr and got my site pinned by 75 people, I don’t know how can he did it just search by typing pinterest on fiverr and you will find it on the TOP. Many other seller offer pinterest service on fiverr but in my experience they can’t make my website increase in SEO. I don’t know why.

    Benefits of Pinterest for SEO:
    1. Once our website pinned it has backlinks counts.
    2. You need to ping the links of your pins to the to get your website increase in SEO.
    3. Even though Pinterest does not support anchor text (except the url link), it’s still perfect for placing our keywords in description.

Love that you gave the trail of the infographic. What’s a shame is that so often they get separated from their original source or creator … who ought to be getting the glory for the creativity and knowledge.
